The Baer House Inn is situated in historic Vicksburg, Miss., 2 blocks from Main Street and 5 blocks from the Mississippi River. The guesthouse is around one half mile from museums, restaurants, art museums and old shopping. The Vicksburg National Military Park and the U.S.S. Cairo Museum are less than 2 miles away.
This Eastlake Victorian was constructed in 1870 by a great local businessman. Complimentary southern breakfasts are catered daily in the inn's ballroom, and a public hour with wine and lunches is held every evening. Complimentary beverages are attainable in the caller kitchenette. Handcrafted American chestnut and black walnut woodwork is showcased in the entrance hall to the cottage. On every side of the entrance are 2 formal parlors. One of the original cisterns under the cottage able to be seen through a Plexiglas portal in the kitchen floor, and a 2 story privy is situated outside. A billiards apartment is supplied.
