General Information
Trapp Family Lodge is owned and administrated by the von Trapps, one of the world's finest known and beloved musical families. The von Trapps, the inspiration for the film, The Sound of Music, opened this astonishing Austrian-style escape several years after settling in Vermont in the 1940s.
Located in a vivid, mountain setting facing the countryside of Stowe, the Trapp Family Lodge is one of Vermont's upper spas, with a valid Austrian atmosphere and a multiude of year-round activities. Music continues to be indispensable, with a harpist in the breakfast room, a pianist in the hall, concerts and sing-a-longs.
Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride, then cross-country ski or snow-shoe over 100kms of trails, stop in the Slayton Pasture Cabin where bowls of steaming home-made soup wait by a roaring log fire. In summer months, there are park tours, Nordic strolling paths, concerts in the meadow, tennis, massage therapy and a big variety of workshops.
The Trapp Family Lodge is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property.
