General Information

Peaceful location. Woodlands Inn of Sapphire is located at the border of the Nantahala National Forest and the Pisgah National Forest in the center of the Western North Carolina Mountains, in Sapphire, N.C. Designated the "Land of the Waterfalls, " there are over 250 waterfalls in the primary district. Whitewater Falls is only nine miles away. Backpacking and horseback riding are accessible surrounding in the Blue Ridge Mountains, in addition to fishing, swimming, boating, tubing, kayaking and canoeing in the plenty of lakes, streams and rivers. The Sapphire Valley Ski Area and Gorges State Park are less than 2 miles away.

Expert Tip. The Whitewater Falls, the most high waterfall east of the Rockies, is surrounding. The top falls plunge 411 feet and the lower falls drops another 400 feet. For a peerless vista of the falls, there are 2 faces. There is a paved walkway to the top face, which is wheelchair available. The lower face is at the foot of 154 wooden steps. This wild land receives few clients because of its rugged terrain, where a wealthy multitude of wildflowers, ferns, mosses and fungi abound.
