Martine Inn Pacific Grove

General Information

This gracious castle that sits high on the cliffs of Pacific Grove facing the rocky coastline of the Monterey Bay, was constructed in 1899. In 1972 Norah and Homer Martine and their son Don purchased the Parke home. Twelve years later Don fully rejuvenated the magnificent manor house. Careful care features been awarded to restoring the prime Victorian inside details, with paint removed from the mahogany and oak trim, inlaid oak and mahogany floor stripped and refinished. Furniture and accessories have been thoroughly selected for every room to fit the decor, size and atmosphere of that apartment. Most of the furniture and accessories are museum quality with preference for American antiques from 1800 through 1890. The whole process of the design, furnishing, decorating and services for visitors is to recreate the experience one would have had whether they had been the special visitors of the Parkes at the turn of the century.
