General Information
The Biltmore Greensboro Hotel is a 26 apartment shop hotel, situated in the center of the city centre bisiness center. The structure dates back to 1895, primarily constructed by Moses Cone for his textile work. Re-equipped as a hotel in 1920, the Greensboro Hotel was the 1st hotel in city to propose suites with privately-owned baths, electricity and the citys 1st unmanned lift, all at a cost of $2. 00 a night.
In the early 1960s, the guesthouse was restored and reopened as the Greenwich Inn. World celebrated inside designer, Otto Zenke, was commissioned to create the look and feel for the guesthouse. He chose to produce use of the buildings turn of the century aesthetics by creating an Old World European feel. The entrance hall was planned after an English writing suite, and a European topic became prevalent in the whole hotel.
Ownership transitioned in the early 1990s, at which point the Greenwich Inn became the Biltmore Greensboro Hotel. The name was chosen as a way to pay homage to the original establishment; inclusion of the Biltmore name was intended to assist describe the type of atmosphere the guesthouse had to propose. The inn features been under local ownership since October 2007, and continues to be a strong presence in the center of city centre to this day.
