General Information

An exquisite mountain retreat in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia, the historic Martha Washington Hotel and Spa was indigenously built in 1832 as a confidential residence for a Virginia general. Throughout the years, it features also catered as a finishing school for young women, a Civil War hospital, and a women's college, and it opened as a hotel in 1935, paying tribute to its historic legacy with gracious Southern cordiality and the genteel grace of period antiques and furniture and accessories.
