Acorn Cottage Bed and Breakfast Tavistock

General Information

Acorn Cottage Bed and Breakfast is an idyllic former farmhouse set within half an acre of terraces in West Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, and at the foot of the Cornish border. Acorn Cottage is a five minute drive from Tavistock (voted Best Market Town in 2005) which offers lovely boutiques, pubs, restaurants, a pannier market place Tues. to Sat.,a swimming pool, and The Wharf amusement center with theatre, gallery and concert lounge. A lovely base for exploration the South West with free access to Dartmoor and the spectacular peninsula coastline. We are also situated just off the Devon Coast to Coast (Route 27), part of the national cycle net. There are a few National Trust properties surrounding in addition to other terraces. The Eden Project is approximately an hour away. There is a hole golf course two miles away and a gliding club approximately 1 mile away. We can provide for vegetarians and other specific diets. Kids are welcome and there are many sights for them. We are near picturesque pubs for suppers. A warm and welcoming welcome from proprietors Jane and Tony Weller awaits you when you come at Acorn Cottage. You'll be offered a drink and home made cake on arrival. We have three cozy en-suite apartments, 2 double and 1 twin. Amenities include; Private off-road car park (no cost), access to the terraces, color T.V's, hairdryers, teacoffeehot chocolate in all suites, safe storage for cycles, bikeboot washing amenities. We operate in a loosen, non-smoking, family warm atmosphere. Breakfasts are made to order using fresh localorganic make whenever possible. We are members of the Dartmoor Partnership and have been inspected by them and given The Dartmoor First Award which means we are committed to putting Dartmoor 1st by using local, organic, fair traded or home made make whenever possible and helping to protect the local outskirts by composting, reusing and recycling.

Transportation

From M5 Junction 31 take the A30 towards Okehampton. After passing the two junctions for Okehampton take the A386 towards Tavistock. After approximately four miles turn right to Lydford. Continue through Lydford and Brentor, passing the Brentor Inn on your right and Brentor Church high up on your left. When you see South Brentor signposted left, almost immediately take the 1st turning right (no signpost). Acorn Cottage is approximately 12 mile down this lane, on the left, 20 yards from the cross highways. Turn into the parking and approach the cottage from there. From Tavistock heart with the Church on your left and Town Hall on your right take Drake Road which goes up hill towards Chillaton. Continue for two miles passing the golf links on your right. After an 's' bend take the left fork signposted Chillaton. At the following crossroads (just under a mile) you'll see Acorn Cottage on your right. Turn right and then right again into our carpark.
