Located in the center of Thomas Hardy's valley of Little Dairies, Plumber Manor is a tranquil Jacobean Manor cottage built of local Dorset stone, in a charming rustic setting. It features been in the Prideaux-Brune family since the seventeenth centuty and for the last 20 years features been run by Richard, Alison and Brian as a dining place with apartments. The attractive countrysides and cities of Milton Abbas, Shaftesbury, and Sherborne, are just a short ride away. The cottage is encircled by excellent lawns and embedded in the quiet Dorset village. The Develish stream runs along the edge of the lawn, and a tennis court, croquet lawn and deck chairs are offered for guests' pleasure. Fishing, shooting, riding, hunting, and hole golf are available on the occasion of a demand, and the nearby village is perfect for walkers. Plenty of Hardy landmarks are surrounding, including Tess's house and the Dew Drop Inn. Neighbouring countrysides including both Marnhull and Sturminster Newton feature in his books. A few National Trust properties and historic homes lie in the proximity, and the Dorset beach in within simple get to.
