General Information

The historic grade II listed Prince Rupert Hotel is located in the centre of old-fashioned Shrewsbury and just a short amble from the exceptional butiques and a lot of treveller park amusements. Encircled by narrow cobblestone streets and black and white timbered buildings it provides the main basis to discover gorgeous Shrewsbury. A warm and hospitable welcome is constantly rendered to all clients with a glass of sherry on arrival. With the history of the guesthouse dating back to the 12th and 15th century, character and fascination abound with sloping floors, exposed Tudor beams and a reconstructed Jacobean staircase. Individually owned for a lot of years by Michael and Diane Matthews, the hotel proposes a good choice of dining with 3 restaurants to select from all with a focus on fresh local make. The Royalist is perfect for a special reason with an a la menu along with a good wine catalogue. Chambers bar is prestigious for its conventional British carte menu at reasonable prices and La Trattoria proposes a valid Italian carte menu. Further to, situated at the facade of the inn facing the terraces of St. Alkmunds piazza, Camellias Tea Rooms proposes a comprehensive carte menu selection including conventional siesta tea catered on a 3 tier cake stand.
