Nestling in the beautiful countryside of Charlton Horethorne, the Kings Arms reopened on March 11th 2009.Welcoming, homely, stunning garden, pretty home-cooked food, pleasing homely lodging. We take pride in everything we do, in each pint we pull, in each dish that leaves our kitchen and in the way we present each room to our dear guests. Warm in winter with log fires. Cool in summer months on the verandah adjacent to the croquet lawn. Quintessentially English. The Kings Arms state pub and guesthouse is in the very heart of Charlton Horethorne just in Somerset but only several miles from the border with Dorset, and 3 miles from Sherborne, Wincanton and the A303. It's owned and administrated by Sarah and Tony Lethbridge who bought it in 2007 and have completely renowated the structure from vault to loft keeping the ambiance of a conventional pub but adding all the comfort, advantage and amenities of the 21st century. The fabulous front of the Edwardian building features been retained but beyond it everything features changed. The major brasserie, the cozy and small restaurant propose a conventional welcome with pretty English oak floors in the comfortable and small restaurant and genuine slate in the major brasserie. And beyond the bars and via the atrium there is the recently built major restaurant ornamented in strong warm stripes of crimson, scarlet and vermilion. Outside, the big garden verandah takes full amenity of the rustic scenery sitting just below the Cleeve, as the mountains beyond the pub are locally known, and well away from the highway, popular with walkers and ideal for a quiet break from the town. The croquet lawn beside the verandah provides amusement for onlookers and fitness for those cracking the mallets!
