The Anchor Inn is a peaceful colour-washed hotel facing the sea on the East Devon Coast dating back from the nineteenth century when it was once a beach guard lookout. Ale itself is a heavenly picture postcard countryside, once well known for its smugglers and the very valued Beer stone, used in pottery and buildings such as St Paul's Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and the Tower of London. As you might expect from our name and peaceful location, our brasserie and restaurant specialise in fresh local seafood - though we provide a big variety of other dishes too, supplemented by a spacious wine catalogue. We also cater lovely genuine ales, that you would expect from an Inn situated in the countryside of Beer. Our cliff-top ale park is rather popular in the summer months, whilst open fires keep our bars cozy in the colder months. This part of the state features all the right ingredients for a ideal getaway, with a lot of waterside strolls, courses in golf, surrounding Cathedral town of Exeter, and fishing on the doorstep.
