It lies neighboring to the churchof St Odulphus, in the ancient Cornish countryside of Pillaton, tucked away amongst the interesting winding lanes so distinctive of this shire, yet just fifteen minutes from the Tamar Bridge. In this place you will find genuine environment and the unselfconscious dignity of renowned age; for the Weary Friar initially housed the builders of the church and then became a rest-house inn. Today it invites you to firstrate food and happy facilities. The commodious stone fireplaces, the copper and brass and the dark beams contrast strongly with the white walls, but the Weary Friar moves with the times too. There are fitted carpets everywhere and each bedroom is heated and features it is own bathroom, built in wardrobe and color telvision. We are well known for our cuisine and greatly pleased of our image. Luncheon and dinner menus are a la carte or desk d'hote. The restaurant is open to non-residents who have often come a long way to eat some of the cottage peculiarities. Pillaton is superbly located for visiting the cute spots of East Cornwall and West Devon. Just below the countryside is Lynher Valley where the river tumbles over weirs and under bridges. It's full of salmon and trout, ask approximately the fishing. If you have been golfing, fishing, tourism, riding, sailing, swimming or mearly strolling in the attractive lanes that have so small vacation traffic, it's marvellous to find yourself, at evenfall, far from the madding crowd, deep in the cornish village. Not just are we an excellent site to come and stay in summer time, but besides 'out of season'; for spring comes early and our autumns are generally warm; and ultimate of all, at Christmas the Weary Friar truly comes into it is own.
