Historic Welsh Coaching Inn and birthplace of the Welsh Rugby Union, the Castle Hotel is family runned and run and located in the center of Neath, just off the M4 and two mins from the mainline railway station. Advantageously located for visiting a landlord of local sights including Afan Forest Park, Brecon Beacons National Park, dozens of historic memorials and palaces and the amazing Swansea Bay and Gower coastlines. All this and also only fourty minutes from Wales' vibrant capital town of Cardiff. The Restaurant proposes a broad choice of good value for money menu and a capacious present-day wine catalogue. The carte menu fashion is a mixture of conventional British and mainland cooking that is sure to please each palette.

Location Information

Admiral Lord Nelson stayed at the Castle Hotel en route to Milford Haven when the fleet was at anchor there. Lt. Lewis Roatley, the son of the host of the Castle Hotel, catered as a Royal Marines officer with Lord Admiral Nelson aboard HMS Victory in the Battle of Trafalgar. The River Neath is a navigable estuary and Neath was a river port till new times. The heavy industries are no more with the city being a commercial and touring heart. Park amusements for guests are the ruins of the Cistercian Neath Abbey, the Gnoll Park and Neath Indoor Market.
