General Information

Located in the very heart of Britain's widest high boulevard, the Castle and Ball features had an pleasing past. It resides a place which features had an inn standing on it since the fifteenth Century. From 1745 to 1763 it was called the Antelope and was renamed The Castle and Ball, which may well have been a misspelling of Castle and Bull, both of which are to be seen on the Borough Arms. Some of the hotel's surviving original oak timbers pre-dates the Spanish Armada. The age of the structure accounts for the unique nature of the guesthouse including the split-level design of the restaurant, without any compromise in providing everything the customers of today require. Featuring a bar fashion restaurant, offering a large, seasonal carte menu with a big range of contemporary, popular and popular dishes, supplemented with a choice of true ales, delightful wines and speciality coffees. Our walled Beer Garden at the back of the hotel offers a relaxing setting for those looking to enjoy a drink and a meal alfresco fashion. The 33 well appointed bedrooms are all well furnished and person in design, and reflect the historic nature of the guesthouse. The Castle and Ball able to now propose self-sufficient WiFi.
