Lydford Country House

General Information

Lydford Country House is embedded in 8 acres of fine grounds within the Dartmoor National Park and features been hospitable customers for more than a 100 years. This five star establishment proposes well appointed en-suite bedrooms, log fires in the caller hall and true Italian cuisine, designed by our Italian cook, in the park suite restaurant La Cascata. Stables allow the horses of visitor to visit at a little supplementary cost and dog baskets are offered for canine companions. With privately-owned access onto the Granite Way off-road cycle path you are able to hire one of our bikes as an alternative secure way to vista the splendid village. The historic countryside of Lydford is a jewel in this district of great nice beauty. To the north, just half a mile away, the high tors come right down to the countryside edge, whilst to the south the River Lyd winds its way through Lydford Forest. Lydford countryside features an charming old-fashioned palace and the surrounding Lydford Gorge (National Trust) and White Lady waterfall is a must. Alternatively drive out to discover the Peninsula; the South Devon beach, North Cornish coasts, Eden Project, Exeter and Plymouth are all less than an hours drive away making Lydford House an attractive main location to discover far and commodious!

Transportation

From Exeter Take the Westbound A30, direction Okehampton Proceed along this highway for about 20 miles, turn off left, direction TavistockPlymouth, on the A386, the 1st blend after Okehampton. The turning for Lydford is around four miles on the right in front of the Dartmoor Inn. We are 400 metres on the right just before you pass over the bridge into the countryside. From Plymouth Head out on the A386, Tavistock highway, pass through Tavistock heading for Okehampton After 6 miles you'll come to Lydford, turn left into the countryside in front of the Dartmoor Inn We are 400 m on the right just before the bridge into the countryside.
