General Information

Sonnhalde is a completely modernised Victorian Villa with that “nice to come home to relaxing atmosphere”. It was constructed by a young innovative Swiss doctor in the 1880s to be used as his family home and as a unwind and recuperation center for his patients in the Victorian thermal city of Kingussie. The Sonnhalde is a well appointed holiday hotel with vistas facing Kingussie. Why don’t you unwind and enjoy a day out with us on one of his mystery tours in the center of the highland glens. We do the driving and the chatting and you'll be introduced to places that are off the beaten track. This is our 20th year of running Photographic, Fly fishing, Natural History and History tours. This district of the highlands features a peculiar range of habitats all in a relatively little district attracting the wildlife, some of which turn pure white in winter. Species such as the Osprey fly here from West Africa to rear their young, and we are constantly on the lookout for Golden Eagles and other birds of prey and the big mammals, vermilion in color. We show you the stunning views known to the locals, (and others). We travel through part of Monarch of the Glen state, places you may have seen on the B.B.C tv series. The identification of the outside filming locations features resulted in a household competition for us and a lot of of our friends able to be spotted in the series.
