Southdown is a stylish detached cottage embedded in an ample park in the hamlet of Roundway Village, a mile from the historic market place city of Devizes. We are rated four stars with Visit Britain and hold both Walkers and Cyclists Welcome, together with a Silver Award from Green Tourism. A footpath running alongside the cottage leads to the Kennet & Avon Canal and the sights and amenities of Devizes. A short meander in the other direction takes you up onto Roundway Down on the edge of the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In this place you able to find the Devizes Millennium White Horse (one of 8 horses cut into the Wiltshire Downs), the premises of the Battle of Roundway (1643) and Oliver’s Castle hillfort. Being located in the very heart of the shire, this is a ideal location for tourism the entire of the shire with its elegant cities, countrysides and antique sites, eg: Avebury, Stonehenge, Lacock, Salisbury, Castle Combe, Bath etc. If you're tourism, strolling, cycling or on work, you're guaranteed of a greatly sincere reception and a restful visit. We have 3 visitor bedrooms: 2 doubles with en-suite amenities and a twin with a confidential bathroom. There is a visitor hall containing local news, books and maps etc, and a art gallery with photos of the region, drinks amenities and a visitor computer. We have cordless whether you wish to bring a laptop. Our well-known breakfast is catered in the greenhouse or breakfast room, depending on the time of year. Both face the rear park. Customers are welcome to use the park and the hot tub. Southdown is also the home of White Horse Walking Holidays. We can offer you all the elements that produce up an excellent strolling vacation or short break for small more than the cost of B&B. Southdown is on the Wessex Ridgeway, White Horse Trail and Mid-Wilts Way and is only 9 miles from the start/finish point of The Ridgeway National Trail.
