General Information

Monk Coniston is a Gothic-style grange leased from the National Trust which maintains a rare tree range in the broad landscaped grounds. Set just north of Coniston Water in the Lake District, panoramas from the major hall sweep down to the lake and a 20-minute walk into Coniston countryside takes you to the distinguished Old Man of Coniston. Woodland, valleys and the nearby fells produce this a locality of fabulous landscape. Monk Coniston, designated as non-smoking, features 17 en-suite bedrooms equiped with a hair dryer, clock radio and additionaly tea/coffee making amenities. Televisions and telephones are not provided in the bedrooms. Non en-suite bedrooms are also accessible. Visitors are able to unwind in the brasserie, drawing and park apartment, enjoy a game of pool or ping-pong in the toys apartment or play croquet or badminton in the spacious grounds. Meals are catered in an unofficial, familiar atmosphere at tables for up to 8 customers. A three-course dinner is catered at seven. 30pm for a charge of 18. 00GBP for a person. Whether you would like to have dinner at the grange please contact the cottage before 6pm to produce your dinner reservation. An option of full English or nutritious breakfas is offered. To empower you to produce the majority of your tourism or strolling vacation, a self-select picnic snack able to be provided for small charge of ten. 00GBP for a person. Free parking zone is obtainable. Please inform the grange beforehand whether you intend to arrive after 10.30pm. Bedrooms are attainable from two. 30pm on the day of arrival and should be vacated by ten. 00am on the day of departure. The farmstead is a great base for those on an activity or strolling vacation. Surrounding sights include The World of Beatrix Potter, kayaking or boat trips on Coniston Water and Brantwood, a 10-minute drive away.


Transportation

From Ambleside take B5285 signposted to Hawkshead. After three miles and before Hawkshead turn right signposted Coniston and Brantwood. Direct on at high Cross and 1st left over the cattle grid. From Hawkshead follow B5285 to Coniston. After 1 mile turn left and then as above.
