Throughout the renewal period we have made sure to keep a fashionable yet conventional feel to the structure, there is an open log fire which you'll find burning throughout the cold winter months and plenty of antique pictures and other historical data hanging throughout the structure. The Portcullis features a bright brasserie that stays open until 2am Thurs to Saturday We are also a stone’s throw away from historical countrysides of Old Sodbury and Little Sodbury which both propose a lot to undergo. We are also within direct access to the world class three day Badminton horse trials held each spring, Castle Coombe race track and Westonbirt Arboretum. There is direct access to both the M4 and M5 highways and we are only 12 miles from the center of the city of Bristol and Bath. Chipping Sodbury lies close to the southern Cotswold escarpment below Dodington Park in southern Gloucestershire 8 miles north-west of Bristol. As the Chipping in its name implies, it was once a necessary market place center in old-fashioned times and stands at the crossroads on the major route between Bristol, Oxford and London. Chipping Sodbury is highly similar to Chipping Norton in that it features a long market place piazza, or Chepynge, as it was called in the gothic times and hence 'Chipping'. Known as Broad Street, this is bordered with a magnificent assortment of houses from each period, but largely 17th-century Cotswold stone buildings or Georgian of mellow brick.
