Hotel information
Built around 1850 by the Johnstone family, sugar planters from Jamaica, the Kingswood remained a privately-owned residence till around 1930. In 1986 the hotel was purchased by Rankin and Kathryn Bell who have privately controlled it ever since. The Kingswood was sympathetically stretched in 1990 to comprise the Alexander Suite and Conservatory. Further extensions and main alterations were completed in 2003/2004, doubling the size of the restaurant, Alexander Suite, reception and hall region. From the grounds of the Kingswood you are able to see the monument commemorating the spot where Alexander III, the last Celtic King of Scotland, fell from his horse to his death.
Room information
All the hotel's bedrooms are personally embellished, with conventional furniture and accessories. The sheltered first floor verandah allows all dwellers the chance to enjoy the excellent vistas. A ground floor bedroom good for disabled visitors is accessible.

Travel information
By highway from the Forth Road Bridge, going north on the M90 motorway: - Take the second turn off (called combination 1). - Follow the signs for the A921, passing the city of Inverkeithing and through the countryside of Aberdour. - When entering Burntisland, turn directly at the roundabout, towards the city heart. - Turn left at the bottom of the hill, taking you onto the Kinghorn Road. - Drive along this highway for approximately 1. five miles / two. four kilometers. - The Kingswood is on the left-hand side, the sea on your right. Coming from the north: - Follow the signs for Kirkcaldy and unite the A921 waterside highway towards Kinghorn. - The hotel is 1. five miles/ two. four kilometers along the beach highway on your right-hand side. Ample independent parking zone is available. By Rail: Burntisland Railway Station is less than five mins by cab. Kirkcaldy Station (mainline) is ten mins by cab. By Air: Edinburgh Airport is a 30 minute drive away.
Cancellation policy
Reservations must be cancelled one day beforehand of your arrival date. In the event of a no show or a cancellation in breach of this policy, an amount equivalent to one night average cost of lodging will be charged. The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival.
