Your hotel experience at the edge of one of premier Cotswold destinationsHistory....Burford Lodge was constructed c1814, most probably as an superb state residence for a local businessman, and was the 1st property to be built alongside what was then a fresh highway. By 1844, it was The Bird's Nest social cottage, and, in 1864 became The Oxford. Shortly afterwards, called Oxford House, it was the privy residence of Thomas Henry Reynolds who wrote hymns, edited a hymn book, and was financially involved in the Burford brewery and several local utilities. He renamed the cottage High View, and this name remained when, c1930, it was once more converted to trade as The High View Private Hotel. Later, the liberally-minded Sharpe family, conservationists, musicians and naturists, operated The High View as a bed & breakfast establishment with a caravan spot attached. Their work continued till the 1960s, after which it was prominent for a whilst as The Winter's Tale. Since then, the structure features been one of the properties in the estate of a national brewery.


Transportation

Burford Lodge is located on the A40 between Cheltenham and Oxford, on the south side of the highway, approximately 300 yards east of the intersection between the A40 and the A361 that runs via the heart of Burford. The guesthouse features its own parking, which able to bestow up to 30 vehicles. We are located on 2 main through highways: one crosses the south Cotswolds, and the other links central Wiltshire with Northamptonshire. Burford Lodge is only 9 miles from the A429 that cuts via the center of the Cotswolds.
