Transportation

Located on the B5285 half a mile from Lake Windermere and the Car Ferry and three miles from Hawkshead. From the South (via ferry): Exit the M6 Motorway at Junction 36 and follow the A591 towards Windermere. This highway leads to the southern end of Bowness and the ferry crossing is signposted. Take the ferry across Windermere and then follow the highway for half a mile. Hawkrigg Guest House is on the left at the upper of the hill. From the South by roadExit the M6 Motorway at Junction 36 and follow the A591 to Ambleside, as you approach Ambleside follow the signs to Langdale and Coniston, at Clappergate take the sharp left turn over the bridge and follow the signs for Hawkshead. Continue past Hawkshead and follow the ferry signs. Continue for approx 2 and a half miles and Hawkrigg is on the right. From the North: From Ambleside follow signs for A593 - Coniston, Langdale and Hawkshead. Turn left at Clappersgate onto B5286 for Hawkshead. At Hawkshead turn left following signs for Windermere by means of Ferry and Sawrey. Enter Far Sawrey, Hawkrigg is on the right. From the North by means of ferry: As you approach Windermere follow the signs to Bowness. Continue through Bowness and follow the signs for the ferry. Take the ferry across Windermere and then follow the highway for half a mile. Hawkrigg is on the left at the upper of the hill.
