General Information

Formerly named the ‘Pack Horse Inn & Old Posting House’ in the 1600’s, the Welch Gate features stood the test of time throughout Bewdley’s heritage. Bewdley was constructed as a stop-over city back in the 1600’s, thanks to being the major waterway through the river Severn to Birmingham & plenty of other cities & towns. Since then prospectors & such have increased the size of the city & its population to what it's today (12,000+), while maintaining its local spell. Linda & Steve took over the Welch Gate as a Fish & Chip Shop in 1985 & have built up a steady & satisfying clientele, both locally & not so local. In the year 2000 they changed the work to a diner and received highly complimentary reviews from all their guests, plus local & regional newspapers. They peaceful carry the torch for Sunday Roasts. The Welch Gate Guest House was completed in late 2008 & features already received renowned reviews from all of its clients. We have endeavoured to establish a wonderful, top quality and fashionable holiday hotel, which is both lounging and pleasurable, while encapsulating the local sights & the vastly historical idyllic Town. We are situated in pretty Bewdley, described by Pevsner as "The most ideal georgian city in Worcestershire". All of our four double suites are en-suite with flat screen tv, mini-bar, tea making amenities and hairdryer. The Wyre Forest, the cities of Kidderminster and Stourport, the Severn Valley Railway and the West Midland Safari Park are all situated close by.
