Glen Rothay Hotel Ambleside

General Information

This glamorous training inn dates right back to 1624 and is a favourite with holiday-makers and walkers alike as it's so near plenty of great strolls for all ages and abilities. The inn features eight roomy, en room bedrooms, some with four-poster beds. The amicable Badger Bar serves a mouth-watering carte menu of home-made food in addition to a magnificent selection of authentic ales from local Cumbrian breweries, and depending on the season you are able to take pleasure in your sustenance in facade of blazing log fires or outside in the gorgeous ale park. Surrounding strolls comprise the Coffin Route (part of a charming circular stroll talking in the shores of Rydal Water and Grasmere), Loughrigg, the Fairfield Horseshoe and plenty of other strolls of varying levels and lengths. The Glen Rothay Hotel takes its environmental responsibilities extremely seriously - we now recycle over 95% or our waste. Still the scraps of cooked food are not thrown away; we feed the local badger population each night which is a current spectacle for guests, dwellers, locals and a lot of a passing naturalist photographer.

Transportation

The Glen Rothay Hotel is located on the A591 between Ambleside and Grasmere. From the South: From J36 of the M6, follow the A590 A591 towards Windermere and then on to Ambleside. Just over a mile after leaving Ambleside (towards Keswick, restful on the A591) you'll enter the countryside of Rydal. 100 yards after the turning to Rydal Mount and Rydal Hall, you'll see the Glen Rothay Hotel and Badger Bar on the right. The parking is after the Hotel on the right. From the North: Follow the A591 south from Keswick towards Grasmere and Ambleside. 2 miles after passing Grasmere you'll enter Rydal and see the Glen Rothay Hotel on the left. The lobby to the car parking is before the Hotel and is clearly signed.
