The guesthouse is independently owned and family run. We take renowned pride in serving our tasty food and giving our dear guests a sincere welcome. We produce all the dishes, cakes and sweets ourselves, none of the prepared meals here. Our portions are big and extremely satisfying specifically after a day on the fells. We provide up-to-date recently equipped rooms with thick chunky towels and locally made toiletries, adjacent bathrooms - sparkling, pristine and up to the minute - elegant supercomfy beds, You will receive all kinds of small extras: conversation, gorgeous views, peace, breakfasts to remember, advice and facilitate when needed, all this from marvellous human beings rather than corporate functionaries. Transportation

From South, M6 Junction 40, Penrith. Follow A66 (Scotch Corner), and keep left. At Roundabout, take A686 to Alston. 20 miles. Drive into Alston. Alston cottage is on your left. From North-East, take A69 west past Hexham. Bear left before Haydon Bridge on A686 to Alston. 20 miles. Drive into Alston. Alston House is on your left past cobbled Front Street. From Scotland, take A69 East at Carlisle. Turn right at Brampton roundabout to follow A69, 1 mile, turn right onto A689 to Alston, 20 miles. Turn left at T combination onto A686, over Bridge. Alston cottage is on yourright. From M6 leave at fusion 40. At Penrith roundabout follow signs to Eden Valley pick up A686 to Alston. (20 miles) go over bridge into Alston. We are on RHS in front of the garage.
