Every room is self contained and houses a comprehensive bedroom, living room, with open fire, and bathroom. Lately presented five stars by VisitScotland, lodging at Glendavan features been tailored to propose each visitor a small bit of luxury in a languish and simple manner. Located right in the centre of Royal Deeside, just an hours drive from Aberdeen, Glendavan House was constructed as a shooting lodge in 1886. The cottage stands in its own spacious grounds - 7 acres of natural pine woods facing Loch Davan - within the recently designed Cairngorms National Park. The grounds are home to varied Highland wildlife including regularly sighted purple squirrels and roe deer. The loch is a conserved bird sanctuary - in the autumn, thousands of greylag geese settle on their trip south, sharing territory with whooper swans, mallard ducks, moorhens and a family of otters.

Transportation

From the SouthTake the A93 Perth to Aberdeen highway, hiking over Glenshee, through Braemar and Ballater. 4 miles behind Ballater, just past the Cambus O May suspension bridge, take a left hand turn onto the B9119 signposted to Strathdon and the Lecht. Glendavan House is situated about three miles along this highway on the left hand side. White stones mark the lobby. From AberdeenFollow the A93 Aberdeen to Perth highway, hiking through Banchory, Kincardine ONeil and Aboyne. three miles behind Aboyne, in the countryside of Dinnet, take the right hand turn onto the A97 signposted to Strathdon. Follow this highway for two miles and take the left hand turn onto the B9119 signposted to Ballater. Glendavan House is situated about 1 mile along this highway on the right hand side. White stones mark the entrance hall.
