The Best Western Premier Hotel Glockenhof is a well-run and prime four-star prime hotel in the center of Zurich. It's located only several mins from the central railway station, the lake, and the mall area "Bahnhofstrasse". The inn was constructed in the late 19th century on the premises of a foundry that, for 13 generations, made bells and cannons. As you push open the double glass doors in the entrance hall take a 2nd to enjoy the good bell, hotel's emblem, etched in the crystal. Whether the outside of the inn is pure old-town Zurich, the interior is a tribute to Swiss design and efficiency. The expansive foyer leads into a net of delightful social spaces enlightened by nicely crafted wooden windows. Privately-owned lounges are situated off the sides of the entrance. There is also a hall on the mezzanine that gives you a bird's eye panorama of the hotel's central lobby. The guesthouse is home to 2 fine restaurants, the conventional Glogge Egge and the modern Conrad, and what is probably Zurich's most elegant summer months park. A haven in what is already a surprising peaceful town, it's the perfect place to bask in the sun or sit under the shade of the verdant canopies.
