The tree star Hostellerie Saint Georges is luscious hotel in the center of the gorgeous hilltop and walled old-fashioned countryside of Gruyeres. The Hotel is named after ancient Saint George himself who you'll see slaying the dragon on the brightly colored emblem proudly displayed over the facade door and again on a carving hung over an old chest in the major hallway. Every bedroom door displays a motif from the era of Saint George. On the door of one suite there is a whimsical knight with a sword raised high; on another a musician playing an instrument similar to a bagpipe whilst yet another features a witch like character riding a broom. All rooms provide exquisite comfort including embroidered bed linens; furniture and accessories in the distinctive fashion of the area and a lovely panorama of the hills and vale or scenic village. The more expensive apartments are capacious and fine with lovely vistas across the ramparts to the hills. Whether you're not can reserve a suite with a view; do not worry for you are able to admire the same panorama from the enclosed verandah where snack and dinner are catered. The carte menu naturally has local specialties made from Gruyeres cheese. Another breakfast room specializes in food cooked to order on the open grill.
