General Information

This Benedictine cloister in the midst of the Ribeira Sacra, a district of great genuine beauty where the rivers Mino and Sil meet, is one of Galicia's monastic centres and now a vacation highlight. The existence of the Monastery features been proven in the 10th century, although its origins appear to be in the 6th and 7th centuries. In the cloister styles collection from Romanesque to Baroque, with 3 striking cloisters (Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance). The structure was declared a Historic and Artistic Monument in 1923. The Hotel features a entire of 77 apartments distributed around 3 cloisters of various styles and periods. The apartments are specially attractive as they are all various, some with unbelievable vistas over the scenery and the valleys of the river Sil. The Hotel features a dining place with verandah by the chestnut wood, a cafe with veranda in the entrance hall abbey, lounges and lavish terraces.

Transportation

The Parador is in the countryside of Santo Estevo de Rivas de Sil, close to Nogueira de Ramuin, in the Ribeira Sacra, 28 kms. from Ourense. The major access highway runs via the capital of Ourense, through the A-52 motorway by the Rias Baixas (Madrid-Benavente-Vigo), which goes through Ourense. There are 2 routes via the city. The shortest and easiest access is the C-536, towards Pobra de Trives, kilometers. seven, direction Luintra. Another option is taking the N-120 towards Monforte de Lemos-Ponferrada and at kms. 550, in Penalva, take the highway to Luintra, continuing on direct to Santo Estevo de Ribas de Sil.
