General Information

The four Star Hotel Espana features just opened its doors and is situated in Calle Sant Pau, in the center of Barcelona’s historic heart, neighboring to La Rambla, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, La Boqueria market place, the shopping st Portal de l’Angel, Plaza Cataluna, Paseo Colon, Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art (MACBA), the Cathedral and the Gothic Quarter, and countless other sights that produce Barcelona one of Europe’s most cosmopolitan towns.

The Hotel Espana building initially dates from 1859 and it was 1st opened under the name Fonda de Espana. It was later renewed by the prestigious modernist architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner in the early 20th century with the collaboration of Eusebi Arnau and Ramon Casas. The business was deservedly recognised by Barcelona City Council when, in 1904, who given the inn with its Diploma of Honour for “best establishment ornamented in the artistic-ornamental style” and its been everytime considered a jewel in the crown of Catalonian Modernism in the town of Barcelona.

Hotel Espana’s 2010 refurbishment project features recaptured the atmosphere that Domenech i Montaner 1st conceived for the guesthouse. The hotel’s modernist spaces have been renewed to their original design, whilst, simultaneously, installing the most modern in technology, design and joy with the considerable purpose of offering a nonpareil embodied amenities and establishing the Hotel Espana as a four Star hotel of excellence in Barcelona’s Old Town.

The hotel provides 82 cozy extensive apartments that join present-day inside design with the classicism of a nineteenth century building. The hotel’s restaurant facilities is under the management of the award-winning cook Martin Berasategui at the far-famed restaurant Fonda Espana.
