General Information

This legendary Palace, built for the last Kings of Portugal in 1885, was converted into a lux hotel in 1917 providing the greatly ultimate of Portuguese cordiality. Today, its lovely custom for affluence and amenities continue under the attention and management of Portugal's best-known hotel family. The inn silent contains plenty of of the original and outstanding old furniture and accessories, vaulted arches, marble staircases, rare tapestries, and wonderful master paintings and objects d'art by the plurality noble Portuguese artists. With 60 castle suites, four majestic apartments and the memorable splendour of two Royal rooms open to spectacular views of formal terraces and lush wood. Dining Information

Once the Royal family's feast lounge, the spectacular suite is now a upper gourmand restaurant, also well known for its wine vault featuring world-known Bussaco wines, mis en bouteille au chateau, complementing the best national and intenational food. Open-air verandah, overlooking the French park and the overwhelming slope with its giant trees. Holding capacity for 90 people.


Location Information

The inn is situated between Lisbon and Oporto, amid the "Bussaco National Park", a marvelous and clear scenery of 105 hectares virgin centuries-old walled wood, planted by the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites in the 17th Century, and celebrated by arborists worldwide. Near exit 12 (Mealhada, on kms 209) of Highway A1 (Lisbon-Oporto) and to a lot of points of big cultural and historical value -the outstanding uni city of Coimbra (25 Kms), Conimbriga Roman ruins (37 Kms), the town of Viseu (70 kms), the Cathedral of Batalha, the Monastery of Alcobaca and the Sanctuary of Fatima (100kms), the Atlantic beaches at Aveiro, the Portuguese "Venice"(33 Kms), Figueira da Foz (40kms) with its Casino, the Douro Valley, with Regua and Lamego, and Braga with its great Churches. International airports: Lisbon (180 Kms), Oporto (90 kms).
