Transportation

Cab: There will constantly be a social cab driver at your command and happy to take you anywhere you want. The cab rank is situated outside the airport arrival hall, just look for a yellow auto with blue stripes and the sign 'TAXI' on upper. Bus: The company responsible for bus transport from the airport is SAM. After you leave the arrivals, follow the major highway and keep on the right side. After approx. one hundred meters you are to find a bus stop. The ticket to Funchal is payable on board and only costs several Euros. The airport is situated in the town of Santa Cruz, 16km (10 miles) to the northeast of Funchal. The major highway to the airport is the Via Rapida (R101), and the drive from the very heart of Funchal to the airport takes around 15 mins.
