General Information

Villla Villoresi is more than just a hotel: it is a villa-hotel, retaining the fascination and richness of the splendid Tuscan state bungalows and providing a traditionally warm and friendly ambience. Primarily a twelfth century fortress built right outside Florence for the defence of the town, the Villa was changed into a state residence during the Renaissance. It was enlarged are finely decorated with works of art, and an attractive flower park was laid out and planted with lemon and wild orange trees. Today most of the surviving has of the bungalow date from this period, including the Loggia, which is the longest verandah in Tuscany, offering vistas over the park and the pool. The bungalow, registered as a National Monument because of its historical and idyllic importance, restful holds original frescoes, adornment and furniture and accessories, recalling the decorative tastes of the various proprietors and the fashions of their times. Here heritage and family occasions mingle with local legends. One story recounts that Dante's wife, Gemma Donati, was received at the bungalow when the poet 1st went into exile. By the start of the nineteenth-century, the bungalow was the summer months residence of the Villoresi family. In the 1960's, Luigi and Clarissa Villoresi decided to turn the bungalow into a hotel, cautiously adding present-day services and comforts whilst retaining the unparalleled and historic ambiance. Bungalow Villoresi's situation, midway between Florence and Prato, and only 2 miles from the highway, produce it a suitable base four tours all over Tuscany, a handy meeting point, and an amiable destination for persons who love leisure and super cuisine!
