Greece is a country in Europe that attracts over 16 million tourists each year that makes 15% of the GDP of its economy. This country has always been an attraction for tourists and visitors due to its antiquity and long history, besides there is the Mediterranean coastline and beaches. Tourism consumption has increased since the turn of the millennium. The number of posts directly or indirectly related to tourism is very high and represents 16.5% of the country’s total rate of employment. In 2006 more than 38 million euro were invested in promoting the tourism industry in Greece. Today the government tends to promote also winter tourism, which could increase international arrivals further. Tourism in Greece is run by the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO). As Greece presents a high level of interst for tourists it has a good network of hotels where tourists can enjoy their holidays.
