The town’s major attraction is to the north—Oranienstein Castle, built between 1672 and 1681 for members of the Dutch royal family. Today the reconstructed palace is home to a regional museum, with historical exhibits and unique exhibits for kids. East of Diez, the town of Limburg an der Lahn (often shortened to just Limburg) is popular for its plenty of almost unscathed old-fashioned buildings. From the City-Hotel-Garni-Diez, it’s approx. seven. seven km/4. 8 miles to the Limburg Sud (Limburg South) train station, which features regular Intercity-Express (ICE) facilities on the Cologne-Frankfurt high-speed rail line.
