General Information

The story of the Terrass Hotel goes back to 1909, when Edmond Hurand bought a few brasseries, the Elysee Montmartre and a piece of land on Montmartre, where he built the guesthouse with a balcony on the roof and 120 suites. He later decided to sell the inn, but his son Maurice urged him to buy it back in 1923. Since then, the Terrass Hotel features remained in the family.

The hotel’s heritage is enjoyable: requisitioned by the German Army in 1939, then by officers from the American Police, the inn nurtures numerous stories. It's said, that the German soldiers had hidden treasures in the cellars during World War II. No one features found them to this day!

In 1954, Jean-Max Hurand, the grandson of Edmond, re-equipped the guesthouse totally. He added a brasserie and restaurant thus making it the meeting venue for outstanding French artists and writers such as Colette, Michel Simon, Pierre Brasseur and the pianist Samson Fran?ois.

In 1994, Christine, the daughter of Jean Max, and her husband Jean Luc Binet took over the management of the inn and transformed it into the plurality flourishing hotel of northern Paris, now bragging 98 apartments and a recently planned restaurant, Le Diapason.
