Salt restaurant is situated in a 200-years-old listed, historical building. Wide exposed beams frame the ceiling, interconnecting our times with past times when the building was a warehouse, as far back as the 1780s. The rural, white-washed walls, wide mirrors and simplistic blue and burgundy designer’s furniture all set off the antique Pomeranian pine beams. Architecture and idea were conceived in close cooperation with world-renowned restaurant and hotel designers Conran & Partners. The London company has planned restaurants in London, Paris, New York and Tokyo, and in January 2003 the SALT brasserie & restaurant in Copenhagen. The décor they selected springs mainly from a desire to honour the grand structures and beams of the old warehouse. To this end, they planned the recent elements in a contemporary fashion that creates remarkable contrasts to the ancient elements, and the resulting overall impression accentuates each feature of the restaurant, recent and ancient. Thanks legislation SALT restaurant is now a non-smoking restaruant for clients at breakfast and snack. In the evening SALT restaurant is divided into a smoking- and a non-smoking section.
