How to get from Luton Airport to London

Some clever ideas how to get from Luton airport to central London

The joys of low cost airlines, they deposit you at airports not quite plugged into the transport network. So what you save on flight prices, canĀ  be lost on getting somehow interesting. Easyjet, Ryanair and Wizzair amongst others fly into Luton, located 50 miles north of London. For those early morningĀ  flights you may want to consider staying at a Luton airport hotel ; who likes a wake up at 4am to go on holiday ?

The options at this airport. First, recharge at Costa Coffee as soon as you come through to the terminal. Now there is the choice of taxi, bus or train. Since you are flying lo-cost, let us forget the taxi! Next up, each airline provides their own bus to London, to Victoria Coach station. They charge about 12 pounds one way. Not a bad option, the cheapest to central London, though in busy traffic this will not be quick. The train, faster but more expensive. You can buy a ticket in the airport terminal, which allows a free shuttle bus ride to the station, about 2 miles away. The bus leaves right outside of the main entrance, is pretty big and clearly marked as the train bus. They never check tickets on the way to the station (but tend to check going from the station to the airport). Make sure you buy a train ticket to Luton Airport Parkway to allow free use of this bus. Trains are frequent and very fast into London St Pancras, a lovely station, which connects onto the metro. A single is more expensive than the bus at about 15 pounds.

If your flight is late as low cost airlines have a habit of doing, then you may find out how much a taxi costs ...
