Mittelberg lies at 1215 m and is the highest and oldest site in the Kleinwalsertal which thanks its geographical position can only be reached by auto from Germany. Coming from Oberstdorf in the Allgäu you pass through Riezlern and Hirschegg and then through several little countrysides - the two, 000 meter hills close in and the dale is cut off from the outside world.
